Another goal, another decisive contribution to a comeback at San Siro. Once again, Marcus Thuram struck when it mattered most, putting Inter ahead in a match that had begun with Udinese scoring twice in the opening minutes. The Frenchman has a way of unleashing a whirlwind of emotion, carrying the entire stadium with him as he cups his ears to the crowd. San Siro roared as it does on the biggest nights, with the supporters recognising and celebrating the immense strength of character within this Inter side.
After the final whistle, Thuram, who was named MVP of the match, spoke to the media:
“It feels good to win this way because it shows that we never give up, but we cannot make life difficult for ourselves as we did tonight. We shouldn’t need a wake-up call. Sometimes you get your approach wrong, but we know how to respond, and that is the most important thing. We showed that tonight. I don’t know if it sends a message, but we know a match lasts 90 minutes, so there was still a long way to go. We had time to turn it around, and that is what we did. Bonny always puts the team first. He is only in his second season but is already playing at an extremely high level. He has played at the World Cup, has experience and, in my opinion, is one of the best players in Serie A. We have 19 opponents, not just Roma, and we need to get results against all of them. We must take the next one seriously and go there to do our job.”
