The Nerazzurri's season concludes with a 3-3 draw at Bologna. With the Scudetto and Coppa Italia already in the trophy cabinet, Inter managed to comeback from behind against Bologna. After Dimarco gave Inter the lead, and it went to 3-1 to the hosts, Esposito and Diouf managed to level the score to 3-3 to have the final say this season.
Esposito, in his 50th appearance for Inter, scored his tenth goal of the season. His goal to make it 3-2, gave Inter the final push for Diouf to equalise in the 87th minute.
For Andy Diouf, it was his first goal in Serie A. After setting up Esposito’s goal with a brilliant piece of play, he made it 3-3 with a superb right-footed strike from a Luka Topalovic assist. It was the midfielder’s fourth goal of the season, earning him the MVP award for the match.
Here is what Esposito, Diouf and Bisseck had to say:
“Today, we proved ourselves once more. I had a feeling we could turn it around, and it feels right after the season we've had. Double digits? Scoring nine goals came more naturally. I hadn't scored for a month and a half, and I'm really glad to have hit double digits. We were joking about it with my teammates, which is why they were so happy for me from the bench. I'm delighted for Andy; he's very skilled and deserves so much. I'm pleased with what we've accomplished as a team. I started my journey here with two trophies, and I'm personally satisfied with this season. ”
Pio Esposito
“I’m very happy with the result, my first goal in Serie A. I’m happy to finish the season this way”
Andy Diouf
“We're Inter, and we want to do well in every game, even when we've already won the league. We did fairly well, but we could have defended better. We'll take this point, and I'm proud of the team for everything we've achieved. It's important to enjoy this moment and reflect on the great season that we've had. After some time off, we'll start thinking about next year. I did the best I could for the national team, but in life, things don't always go the way you want them to. I'm proud of what I've achieved, even though I wasn't called up. I'll support the team, and I hope they have a great World Cup, then I'll do everything I can to be there for the Euros. Matches I'd like to play? None. I'm tired, we need a holiday. The best match was the Coppa Italia second leg against Como. Now we need to take it easy for a bit, and then we can think about next year. ”
