The words of the two young Nerazzurri players after the win against Karlsruher at the BBBank Wildpark

Having been included in the first-team squad for the training camp in Donaueschingen, Luka Topalović and Mattia Marello both featured at the BBBank Wildpark against Karlsruher in the friendly that brought Inter's pre-season stay in Germany to a close.

A technically gifted Slovenian midfielder born in 2006, Topalović was one of Inter's brightest attacking threats in the second half against KSC. Marello, meanwhile, is a 2008-born player who operates on the left, and who enjoyed an excellent campaign with the Nerazzurri Primavera last season, showcasing the quality and accuracy of his left foot. The youngster started against Karlsruher and caused problems with a series of dangerous deliveries into the box.

This is what Topalović and Marello had to say in their post-match interviews:

“It was a good game with a great atmosphere, in front of plenty of fans. We played well and won, and that's the most important thing. Every training camp leaves you with heavy legs, so it was a tough match. We were a little tired after the camp, but we always want to win. The coach gives me the freedom to drop deep and get on the ball, then I can look for my teammates. Everyone has helped me settle in and we've built a great relationship. Piotr Zieliński especially – he's taken me under his wing.”

“It was an incredible feeling, both to feature in the match and to secure the result. I'm really happy. The win is the reward for all the hard work we've put in during training camp. It was demanding, but it will pay off throughout the season. The coach's advice? He told me to keep things simple, and I tried to do that. My teammates also helped me a lot with my movement and positioning, so I'd like to thank them. My goal is to break into the first team one day, but I'm already delighted just to be training with them. I'm very proud, and I'm grateful to the coach and my teammates for the confidence they've shown in me.”
