Inter showed maturity, aggression and concentration at 'De Kuip'. The Nerazzurri beat Feyenoord thanks to goals from Thuram and Lautaro and earn an important win in the UEFA Champions League first-leg - the second-leg will take place on Tuesday 11 March at 21:00 CET at San Siro. Coach Simone Inzaghi shared his thoughts at the end of the match.
“The lads were really good, it wasn't easy in this stadium. Our fans helped us a lot: we had to suffer a bit today but we didn't have to for long: we were together when we needed to be, we know the challenges that the second-leg will bring, but I am very happy. Asllani and Zielinski did what I asked of them, I never doubt these players: they played really well, I tried to make changes without changing everything, I always have to make decisions. I want to carry out playing these games, we must go forward in this way. Feyenoord have quality, they played with four forwards: to begin with, we didn't do well when it came to controlling the spaces and we didn't pass the ball well, you tend to suffer in these stadiums. The two goals made it easier for us, we spoke a lot as a group: we know that we've only won the first half, there's still the second-leg. In my career, I have had the privilege of managing brilliant lads who put what I ask of them, into practice: my staff and I have been really happy over these years, the players have shown that they're always ready. For example, Bastoni played very well, he was ready: we're talking about a world-class defender who played as a wing-back for his teammates. As a Coach, this is something you always want to see. ”
