— Feb 6th 2025Thoughts of the Inter boss at the end of Fiorentina 3-0 Inter
Tough evening for Inter. Fiorentina run out 3-0 winners at the Franchi in the resumed game from matchday 14, which was interrupted and postponed after 16 minutes due to a medical emergency. The Viola take the three points thanks to a goal from Ranieri and a brace from Kean. Here is what Coach Inzaghi had to say after the match:
“We completely messed up, we were missing everything: pace, aggressiveness and determination, we deserved to lose. Kudos to Fiorentina, we didn't do well enough to react, there were warning signs in the first half, but it got worse in the second half. The first person responsible for this is me, I am the Coach. We will talk about this and analyse it, we didn't play as we usually do, but the team will keep going. We are returning home angry. We haven't lost for four and a half months: it wasn't an adequate performance. We have three and a half days before we face Fiorentina again, there are no reasons or excuses, we will need to go again. Making calculations at this point is useless, only hard work can help us bounce back from this defeat we had 14 wins and three draws, but we lacked everything tonight. Fiorentina were more aggressive and determined. We weren't good enough technically, we played the ball too slowly and they managed to defend well: we knew that they'd be like this, they were really dangerous on the counter-attack. We are defeated and hurt, but I know that work is the only way to bounce back: we will analyse the match and then return even stronger than before. We know how important Calhanoglu is, he came back on Sunday, he is building his minutes up, but I won't analyse individuals tonight, it was a bad performance from everyone, myself included because I am the coach. I am happy with the team that I have, for three and a half years, the team has given me great satisfaction, the lads are very disappointed. Now, we've got three and a half days to bounce back, considering all the competitions that we still have to play. ”
