LUGANO – Inter’s first game of the season, a 4-1 victory over Lugano. A friendly that has started off the team’s pre-season games programme, which will next see them go to Ferrara, on Saturday 16 July, to take on Monaco.Simone Inzaghi, at the end of the match at the stadium in Cornaredo, spoke about the performance and the current shape of his squad.
“The guys did really well, we’ve only been working for four days but it was already a serious performance. We’ll work day after day to be as ready as we can for 13 August. Lukaku-Lautaro? They know each other well, they are two champions who love playing together, but also Correa did extremely well when he came on. Dzeko has come back early. We had the best attack last season and I’m really pleased with our players. 3-4-1-2? It’s a system we’re trying out. Our style of play is a different one but it’s normal to try and find alternatives with the strikers we have at our disposal. We had the chance to bring Lukaku back home and I’m very happy with the options we have. Asllani? They knew him and we wanted him for his characteristics. Despite his young age, he’s already showing what a strong character he is. He’s going to be a real asses for us this season.”
