— May 31st 2025The thoughts of the Nerazzurri head coach following the Champions League final
Inter fell to defeat in the 2024/25 Champions League final, with PSG emerging victorious in Munich. This is what Simone Inzaghi had to say after the match:
“I’m proud of these guys for what they’ve achieved on this journey. Tonight, PSG deserved to win the Champions League – they were better than us. We approached the game poorly, became stretched and made their victory easier. For us, this is a tough loss. Credit to our opponents, but we didn’t play a great final. That said, I’ve thanked the players for this season, and I’m proud to be their coach. It’s disappointing, but it doesn’t erase what we’ve done. We needed to do better tonight – me first and foremost – but the lads have been incredible this season. This group deserves praise. In the coming days, there will be a meeting with the Club and we’ll talk. After a defeat in a final, there’s too much bitterness to think clearly. The Club was close to us tonight and feels the same disappointment as we do, but it has always been very supportive. Technically, we didn’t play like we know we can. They were winning second balls, and, after conceding the first goal, we became stretched, leading to this defeat. Tonight, we conceded goals that we don’t normally allow. Frattesi deserved to play a part in this final, but we were already down by three goals when I decided to send on Zalewski and Asllani, and I preferred not to put him on the pitch.”
