Inzaghi: "We believed until the end"

— Oct 23rd 2024The thoughts of the Nerazzurri head coach after the victory over Young Boys
It was a complicated match against highly motivated opponents at a very tough ground, but Inter came away with a victory against Young Boys to pick up three vital points in the Champions League. The winner was scored by Marcus Thuram, who bagged in the 93rd minute in a match where Inter displayed real heart, as Simone Inzaghi pointed out after the game:
“Every match is difficult in the Champions League: the most recent Italian sides to play here all had problems. However, we displayed real heart and created a lot of chances. We believed until the end and came away with a deserved victory. All the substitutes did well after coming on, as was the case in Rome. I have a well-equipped squad, and now that we have some absentees, it’ll be important to recover strength and energy. Barella only deserves compliments for his performances; he showed a real spirit of sacrifice. We’ll need everyone to make sacrifices until the current injury crisis improves. I’ve spoken to Arnautovic, and it isn’t a problem that he missed a penalty. He feels responsible, but I told him to stay calm and carry on working well, just like he’s doing now.”
