9 March is a day to celebrate for the Nerazzurri: the 118th anniversary of the founding of the Club coincides with the birthday of another key figure in Inter's history, Juan Sebastian Veron.
Born in La Plata on 9 March 1975, the former midfielder turns 51 today. La Brujita (“the little witch”) – a nickname inherited from his father, who was known as La Bruja – joined Inter in the summer of 2004 after spending almost a decade dazzling Italian fans with his class.
A technically gifted midfielder blessed with superb vision and precision, Veron produced spectacular searching passes that thrilled teammates and supporters during his two seasons with the Nerazzurri. Wearing the Inter shirt, Seba made 74 appearances and scored four goals, but Inter fans remember him above all for his charisma, leadership and a goal that delivered a trophy: the strike in extra time of the 2005 Supercoppa Italiana against Juventus FC at the Stadio delle Alpi.
That Supercoppa was added to one Serie A title and two Coppa Italia triumphs. In total, Veron won four trophies with Inter, helping lay the foundations for the winning cycle the Nerazzurri would begin in the years that followed.
Today, on the Club’s 118th anniversary, Juan Sebastian Veron celebrates his 51st birthday and receives best wishes from the entire Nerazzurri family.
