Nerazzurri assistant coach spoke after the game against Bologna

Inter’s 2026 gets off to a winning and dominant start. At San Siro, the Nerazzurri beat Bologna with three goals, securing three crucial points that keep them top of the table. Goals from Zielinski, Lautaro and Thuram capped off a victory built patiently, move by move, and extended the team’s strong form, as Inter made it five straight wins in this Serie A season. After the final whistle, assistant coach Aleksandar Kolarov spoke about the match, stepping in for head coach Chivu, who lost his voice:

“It was an important win. We dominated the game from the first minute and I want to congratulate the players. We know how much details can change a game, so we pay attention to everything. It's a shame we conceded the goal, but today the team put out a huge performance. Lautaro's growth? He's the same player we've always known. He is our captain and leader, and he deserves a lot of credit. That's how he plays in training too, he always give 100%. As for his position today we wanted to almost create a square in midfield by pushing one mezzala higher and dropping him deeper, isolating Marcus one-on-one with their defender. He’s so good at understanding how and where to move, and the first goal came exactly from that idea. We didn't want to change everything, just change a few things. Last season the team came so close to winning several trophies, but in the end didn't manage to capitalise on everything. We’ve worked on some human aspects and put in a lot of work on the training ground, and I think the team is taking an important step forward. When the second half of the season begins, it’s like a new league starts. We’re top of the table and we want to stay there, so there’s still a lot to do and a lot of work ahead. Set pieces? We worked on a few things even this morning. Palombo is in charge of that area in particular, so credit goes to both the team and him. The schedule? Recovery becomes crucial, so we’ll try to recover as well as possible ahead of the match coming up in 72 hours.”
