The international duties of Inter’s players during the second break of the 2025/26 Serie A season came to a close with a brace from Lautaro Martínez. In the early hours of the Italian morning, the Nerazzurri captain once again took centre stage for Argentina. After providing the assist for the winning goal in La Albiceleste's friendly against Venezuela, he bagged the final two goals in his country's 6-0 victory over Puerto Rico.
After replacing José López in the 61st minute, Lautaro made it 5-0 with a left-footed finish following a move involving Messi and Nico González. Just five minutes later, he struck again, this time with a right-footed effort from the middle of the box after being set up by Messi.
With this brace, the Inter captain has become the fourth-highest goalscorer in Argentina’s history, drawing level with Hernán Crespo on 35 goals.
