With another vital goal that secured the three points, the Nerazzurri captain, Lautaro Martinez, was once again decisive in Udine, producing a moment of pure magic. His right-footed finish following a double dribble secured yet another victory for Inter, who remain top of the table.
His goal in the 1-0 win at the Bluenergy Stadium, once again set up by Pio Esposito, still keeps him as the number one goalscorer in the Serie A scoring charts with eleven goals. The captain has now been directly involved in 15 goals (eleven goals and four assists), becoming the first player to record at least 15 goal contributions in each of the last seven Serie A seasons (since 2019/20).
Lautaro has also totalled 168 goals for Inter, just three shy of Boninsegna, who sits third on the club's all-time scoring list with 171.
Here are the striker's words after the win in Udine.
“First of all, I want to convey my condolences to the Fiorentina family and to President Commisso's entire family. On behalf of myself and everyone at Inter, we send all our love and support. In terms of the match, this win is really important because we know what it takes to play in this stadium against such a physical side that fights for every second ball. We gave it our all on the pitch and deserved the win, demonstrating quality and ensuring we scored when the right moment came. Pio's assist? That was key; he's a hardworking player who always puts the team first and will be a huge help for us. I'm proud of his performance, as well as Marcus', Bonny's, and the entire squad's. We're doing an incredible job, thanks in large part to the coach and his staff. ”
