The Nerazzurri defender played the full 90 minutes in Switzerland’s 2-1 victory over Slovenia, while the midfielder started and remained on the pitch for 45 minutes in Croatia’s defeat to England.
Akanji’s Switzerland secured their third win in three matches in Group 1 of League B. An own goal from Janža and a goal from Ndoye allowed Yakin’s side to come from behind against Slovenia, claiming another three points and strengthening their position at the top of the table on nine points.
Croatia suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of England, who ran out 7-0 winners in Rijeka. Kane and Saka both scored twice, while Gordon, Bellingham and Rogers were also on target for the Three Lions, who moved up to second in Group 3 of League A. Spain remain top after beating the Czech Republic 3-1, with Josep Martínez an unused substitute.
Ange-Yoan Bonny played 45 minutes in Ivory Coast’s friendly against Cameroon, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.
