Experience, leadership, a winning mentality, and unwavering composure and control in midfield: after four highly successful seasons, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will continue his Inter journey until 2027. The Armenian midfielder has extended his contract by another year, keeping him in Nerazzurri colours as the story that began in the summer of 2022 enters a new chapter. Since arriving at Inter, Mkhitaryan has brought vast international experience, outstanding technical quality and exceptional tactical intelligence, establishing himself as a key figure in the Nerazzurri midfield.
His maturity in reading the flow of the game, knowing when to slow the tempo and when to drive the team forward, made him an integral part of the team from his very first season. He finished the campaign with 49 appearances, five goals and two assists as Inter lifted the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, while also reaching the Champions League final. Mkhitaryan left his mark on that memorable run by scoring the second goal in the first leg of the semi-final against AC Milan.
A few months later, he once again took centre stage in the Derby della Madonnina. In September 2023, the Armenian scored twice in the 5-1 victory early in Inter's Second Star campaign, a match that remains etched in the memories of every Nerazzurri fan. It was also the season in which he set a new personal best for assists in an Inter shirt, providing eleven across all competitions, and lifted the first Scudetto of his career.
His influence on the team was invaluable, and his consistency made him fundamental to Inter's build-up play. His 53 appearances in the 2024/25 campaign remain his highest tally in an Inter shirt, further highlighting the remarkable longevity he has continued to display, including in the season just gone.
In 2025/26, Mkhitaryan made 39 appearances and scored four goals, including a crucial opener away to Lecce in a key match in the title race, before finding the net again in the Scudetto-clinching home win over Parma. His goal to make it 2-0 set the celebrations in motion at San Siro, as Inter went on to complete the Double.
Two Scudetti, two Coppa Italia titles and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies in four outstanding seasons. Across 187 appearances in Nerazzurri colours, Mkhitaryan has contributed twelve goals and 21 assists, building a special bond with the club that is now set to continue for another season.
