Three seasons with Inter from 1960 to 1963 and the glory of the Club's eighth Scudetto: remembering the goalkeeper

FC Internazionale Milano and the entire Inter family mourn the passing of Lorenzo Buffon and remember him, standing with his family in this time of mourning.

The goalkeeper who helped secure Inter’s eighth Scudetto, the first of Herrera’s “Grande Inter.” Lorenzo Buffon, an incredible keeper of the 1950s and ’60s, joined Inter in 1960 after spells with Milan and Genoa.

Nicknamed “Tenaglia,” he made 89 appearances for Inter. In the 1962/63 season, he defended the Nerazzurri goal 20 times, alternating with Bugatti, helping secure the Scudetto, the eighth in Inter’s history. It was truly the beginning of the Grande Inter era.

With impressive physical presence and exceptional skill between the sticks, Buffon also earned 15 caps for the Italian national team, including two appearances at the 1962 World Cup.
