Inter Women
— Nov 16th 2025Inte suffer second league defeat of the season, as they fail to capitalise on their chances against Napoli
Inter suffered their second league defeat of the season, losing to Napoli Women away from home. The Nerazzurre played well and created a host of chances in either half, but Floe Nelson's late winner sealed it for the hosts. Inter came agonisingly close to equalising through a Glionna effort that hit the post, but they couldn't salvage a point.
Inter were on the front foot from the outset. The Nerazzurre looked dangerous through the middle and from set pieces. The first real chance of the game fell our way in the 13th minute, as Glionna tried to capitalise on a wayward backpass by Jusjong. The Inter forward carried it into the box and dribbled past Beretta, but the touch was heavy, allowing the goalkeeper to get back onto her line and shut down the effort. Five minutes later, another mistake by Napoli afforded Inter another chance following Magull's ball forward. A mix-up between Brooks and Jusjong gave Wullaert a clear run; the Belgian went 1-v-1 with Beretta, but the goalkeeper turned Wullaert's chipped effort behind for a corner. From the ensuing corner, Andrés was denied at the last second by Troan, who sent the ball behind for another corner. The flow of the match remained unchanged as the minutes wore on, and Inter continued to push but failed to create any clear-cut chances. In the 25th minute, Vilhjalmsdottir saw her powerful effort from outside the box parried by Beretta. Napoli then recovered possession and looked to mount a counter-charge, but Muth's long-range shot was well off target. The Partonopee's best chance of the half came in the 30th minute, as Floe headed just off target from Vergani's cross. Inter got back on the front foot, launching a sweeping move down the right-hand side: Glionna attempted to direct the cross home on the turn, but she was denied just as she was about to make contact with the ball (39'). There were no further highlights in the first half, and the two sides were level at the break. Both teams made a change at half-time, with Detruyer and Langella coming on for Tomasevic and Troan, respectively. Inter thought they'd netted the opener in the 48th minute, but Glionna's goal was ruled out for offside. It was one-way traffic, with Inter creating chance after chance. In the 56th minute, Wullaert played it into the box for Magull, whose cross towards the back post was met first-time by Csiszar - blocked on the line by Brooks. From the following break, Floe tried to catch Runarsdottir off guard with an attempt from distance, but it sailed over the crossbar. Two minutes later, the Nerazzurre threatened, as Wullaert found Magull in the box again, but the shot was wild. In the 61st minute, Wullaert again came close to scoring, this time with a first-time shot as she connected with a cross from out on the left; the ball cannoned onto the crossbar and bounced off the goal line. Inter kept pushing and came close through Milinkovic and Vilhjalmsdottir, the latter of whom came off with a mild injury for Van Dijk. Late into proceedings, Inter dropped off somewhat compared to earlier in the match, and the hosts capitalised on that. In the 82nd minute, Floe Nielsen escaped from the marking of Andrés in midfield with a brilliant control. She raced away towards the goal and sent her shot through Runnarsdottir's legs. 1-0 to Napoli, perhaps against the run of play. The Azzurre almost doubled their lead through Floe Nielsen in the 88th minute, as she beat both Andrés and Runarsdottir and hit the post from a very tight angle. Inter attempted to get back on level terms and almost equalised on two occasions, but Detruyer fired wide and Glionna hit the post from a free-kick. With the last kick of the game, Floe Nielsen again came close to doubling the Azzurre's lead, but Runarsdottir made a good save. It ended 1-0 to Napoli Women.
