Pavard, Sommer and Frattesi: "We showed character"
Team
— Sep 20th 2023The Nerazzurri trio gave their thoughts following Real Sociedad vs. Inter
A hard-fought game that ended in a draw on the opening matchday in the Champions League. This is what Pavard, who made his Nerazzurri debut, Sommer and Frattesi had to say after the showdown in San Sebastian:
“I’ve only just arrived, but aggression and tactics certainly aren’t lacking, and I’ve got a lot to learn from this great team. I’m delighted to have played my first match. We need to recover quickly because we’ll be back on the pitch on Sunday and want to pick up three points. We had to dig in, but it was important come away with a point and not to lose. We were expecting a complicated match. Another game awaits at the weekend, and we need to win it.”

Real Sociedad-Inter | Post-match reactions
“We were expecting to play a very aggressive side. We know that they’re very good and full of quality, and that they also put their opponents under real pressure. Days like this happen: we made a few mistakes, and it’s difficult to play away from home against a side like this. In the end, however, we’ve picked up a good point. Starting with a good result is always important, and we can be happy because we showed confidence and character in the second half. We didn’t have many chances to score but still found the net, meaning we were efficient. Now, we need to closely analyse the match and our first-half mistakes as we look to prepare as best we can for our next game and continue on our journey.”
Yann Sommer
“It wasn’t easy because we were playing at a tough ground. We did well to get back in it in the second half, and we showed that we can cause anyone problems when we play like we know how to. Given how things went, we’ve come away with a positive result. The best thing is how we remained compact in the first half, and then we did well to score an equaliser in the second 45 minutes. Now, we’ll focus on Empoli because it’ll be another difficult fixture.”
