Positional awareness, pure instinct and a stroke of genius: Pio Esposito has made a flying start to the season, scoring a stunning goal in Inter's opening-day victory. With Inter leading 2-1 and pushing for a third, Pio found space in the penalty area as Diouf took on his opponent down the right. The Frenchman reached the byline and delivered a low cross slightly behind him, and Esposito produced a moment of magic.

A backheel, a deft touch to bring the ball under control and turn it into the net, an explosion of joy and amazement at San Siro, and a celebration showing off his muscles to the crowd. His teammates rushed over to join him in front of the Curva to celebrate a spectacular and important goal, one that put Inter firmly in control of a match that had posed plenty of problems in the first half.
