— Nov 18th 2025The Nerazzurre Coach's comments on the eve of Inter vs. Häcken
The countdown is over: Inter Women are preparing for the vital second-leg match against BK Häcken FF in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Women's Europa Cup, which will settle who advances to the quarter-finals. The match will take place on Wednesday, 19 November at 18:30 CET at the KONAMI Football Centre. After the 1-0 defeat in the first leg at the Hisingen Arena in Gothenburg, the Nerazzurre will have to turn things around to progress. Gianpiero Piovani's comments on the eve of the match:
“We hope it will be a good game, even though there will be some notable absences: seven or eight players are out, many of them have been playing consistently. We're beginning with a slight disadvantage, but we must persevere and believe in ourselves. True teams show their strength in difficult times, and we need to stay united to get through this challenging period. Each player will need to dig a little deeper. Our mindset is key. We must start strong, dominate the game, and look to score. It won't be easy: Häcken is a very strong team, although in the first leg we caused them problems and created plenty of opportunities. We'll need to play an almost flawless match, leaving nothing to luck. The absences are especially difficult because they limit our options in terms of substitutions. Those who start will need to rise to the occasion, and we will have fewer options on the bench. We're really down to the bare minimum. Our aim is to put on a strong performance and, most importantly, a positive result to build on. The team's performances have always been strong. Maybe a couple of our second halves could have been better, but we've consistently created chances, which is encouraging. After the international break, we'll have four or five of our key players back with us who can give us an extra push and help us take the leap we need. I'm sure of it. I've faced even more challenging situations before, and we've always gotten through them successfully. That inspires confidence within me. Even if we're not in our strongest form right now, we could have scored ten more goals; the chances keep coming. Sooner or later, we will find the back of the net again. ”
