Primavera, Inter 0 - 1 Atalanta. The Nerazzurri miss out right at the end

MILAN – It was a bitter defeat for Inter Primavera who fell short against Atalanta in the game that took place at the Konami Youth Development Centre. Simonetto's late penalty in the 86th minute tipped the balance. It was a competitive game, but it was the visitors celebrating in the end. Zanchetta's boys gave their all, but they were lacking decisiveness in front of goal.

The match got started at a high tempo and Inter had an early chance. In the 7th minute, Mosconi burst up the pitch but his right-footed effort went wide. Atalanta fought back in the 11th minute through Idele on the right wing: his cross was inviting, but no-one managed to convert the chance. The match stayed largely balanced, with both teams battling well. In the 26th minute Riccio made the most of Calligari's indecisiveness and he shot from a great position, but Inter's keeper parried well. Inter then created a chance in the 33rd minute through Quieta, who tried his luck from long range, but his effort missed the target.

Inter were on top after the break: in the 51st minute, Venturini had a headed chance, but with no final product. The home side pushed on, and in the 59th minute, Cakolli, again from a header following a corner, only just missed the target. In the 64th minute, another great chance for the Nerazzurri went begging, this time Mosocni did well to burst into the box to get on the end of Della Mora's great cross, but his effort was just over the bar. Just as it seemed as if it were going to finish 0-0, one moment changed the course of the game: in the 85th minute, Cakolli's header put the Inter defence into some difficulty, as a result, Venturini was penalised for handball. The referee pointed to the spot with no hesitation. One minute later, Simonetto kept his cool and precisely fired home, putting Atalanta in front and winning them the game.
