Happy birthday, Roberto Baggio!

The number 10 on his back and that iconic ponytail – a signature as recognisable as any great artist’s brushstroke. In football, very few have left a mark quite like Roberto Baggio: a one-of-a-kind champion, unforgettable, adored by fans all over the world, and a genuine artist with a ball at his feet.

Baggio was the purest expression of the number 10: all class, technique and elegance, able to make millions fall in love with a single touch, no matter who they supported. He worked some of that great magic in Nerazzurri colours. Joining Inter in 1998, he made 59 appearances and scored 17 goals. One of the greatest players the game has ever seen, the 1993 Ballon d’Or winner gave Inter fans some unforgettable nights. His brilliant brace against Real Madrid in the 1998 Champions League still lives on in memory, and two more goals saw Inter win the 2000 European play-off against Parma.

When he returned to San Siro for the match against Juventus, Baggio was welcomed with a heartfelt standing ovation from the Inter crowd and presented with a personalised shirt bearing his famous number 10.

Born in Caldogno on 18 February 1967, Roberto Baggio turns 59 today — and receives the warmest wishes from the Club and all the fans!
