Inter in dreams, Inter forever in the heart: Roberto Boninsegna remains one of the greatest players in the Club's history. Born in Mantua on 13 November 1943, Bonimba joined Inter's youth academy at 14 before gaining experience with clubs across Italy. He returned to the Nerazzurri in 1969, where he spent seven seasons and recorded 281 appearances and 171 goals (some sources note 173, including two scored in the 1971 Trofeo Picchi).
Boninsegna is the Nerazzurri's third-highest goal scorer in history. He spent seven seasons with Inter, winning an incredible Serie A title in 1970/71 as the league's top scorer with 24 goals, a season noted for its unforgettable comeback against Milan. He claimed a second top scorer title in 1971/72 with 22 goals.
A powerful and technical forward, Boninsegna was an outstanding striker with a lethal left foot and a natural flair for goals.
Bonimba turns 82 today! Best wishes from FC Internazionale Milano and all Inter fans!
