Happy birthday, Samir!

Skill, character and leadership: for eleven years, Samir Handanovic was a mainstay in the Nerazzurri line-up, the first name on the team sheet whenever Inter took to the pitch. A reliable goalkeeper, exceptional at saving penalties and confident with the ball at his feet, Samir joined Inter in the summer of 2012 and remained at the club until his retirement in 2023. During his time wearing the Nerazzurri shirt, the Slovenian shot-stopper made 455 appearances, drawing level with Ivan Cordoba in tenth place on Inter’s all-time appearance list. As captain, Handanovic played a key role in bringing Inter back to success, lifting the Scudetto, two Coppa Italia trophies and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies. Samir began his coaching career within Inter’s youth sector in 2024, taking charge of the U17s.
