Giuseppe Marotta's speech at the Inter shareholders' meeting
Club
— 1 hour agoDear Nerazzurri,
I come before you today with great pride, looking back on a season that saw us win our third domestic Double, thanks to us winning our eighth and ninth trophies since 2020.
Inter has won its 21st Scudetto and 10th Coppa Italia. The team, led by Cristian Chivu in his first year as the Nerazzurri's head coach, has written a new and sensational chapter in the Club’s history and given us all nights filled with great excitement.
In last season’s European campaign, the team did not fully realise its potential, and this is where we must continue to raise the bar with responsibility, commitment, and great determination.
The season that ended on 30 June also marked the Under-23 team’s debut in Serie C. This is a technical and sporting project of fundamental importance for the development of our young talents, as well as a strategic tool for the Club.
Inter Women secured their second consecutive qualification for European competitions and reached the League Phase of the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in the club’s history, confirming the upward trajectory that began in recent years. This is a movement that Inter strongly supports and which complements its technical project.
Off the pitch, the Club experienced a season of financial consolidation. The financial restructuring effort—which aims to build a sustainable, long-term foundation—has gained further momentum with the arrival of the new owners, Oaktree. The financial statements submitted for your approval confirm the significant strengthening of the Club’s financial and equity position. Revenues once again exceeded €500 million, the year ended with a net profit, financial expenses are lower than in the previous financial statements and, for the first time in a long while, equity is back in the black. Our commitment to balancing sustainability with sporting competitiveness will not waver, as we are convinced we are on the right track.
The 25/26 season, which kicked off in the United States and concluded with the announcement of the summer tour in Hong Kong and Perth, demonstrates the extent to which Inter is focusing on the globalisation of its brand and on activities dedicated to its fanbase around the world. Our digital channels have surpassed the 100-million-fan mark, with 20% growth over the course of a single season—a record increase globally in our segment.
Growing on the field and around the world, expanding the boundaries of what defines us: these are the goals that continue to guide our work. In recent months, Milano has been more Nerazzurro than ever—and not just on the days we celebrated our trophies. We’ve taken our city by storm and experienced the passion of our fans from Piazza Duomo to the San Siro Montagnetta, passing through the Tricolore stop along the way. But the biggest project is still taking shape.
Last November, the acquisition of the Stadio Meazza and the San Siro Urban Development Area (GFU – Greater Functional Urban Area) was completed. Soon, we will share with all of you the outcome of the design work for Milano’s new stadium, transforming the entire district into a vibrant new hub for sport and entertainment, open and accessible to the community.
This investment will deliver a remarkable stadium, a new urban landmark, and a state-of-the-art venue fully equipped to support the ambitions of Inter and its supporters for generations to come.
The Club has also started investing to support the development of training infrastructure, starting with the Inter Training Center in Appiano Gentile—where existing facilities will be upgraded and new ones built to accommodate the Under-23 team—and also including the Konami Women & Talent Center, which is currently being expanded to provide welcoming and efficient workspaces for staff and athletes alike.
During the summer transfer window, the squad of the Italian champions was bolstered by the addition of international talent. We are aware that maintaining our position in Italy and making the leap in quality needed to advance at a European level will not be easy, but we will tackle the three competitions with the sense of belonging and work ethic that characterise the group managed by Coach Chivu.
Football is at the heart of our identity, and the pitch remains at the heart of everything we do. But today, being a great club also means understanding how our choices can influence society and the environment. And that is why today, alongside our financial results, Inter is also presenting its first Sustainability Report. This document reflects our commitment to embarking upon a structured path, systematizing what we already do, understanding its impact, and identifying more clearly where we can improve.
This is our mindset: to keep improving and to view every success as a starting point. We embrace challenges, tackle them with perseverance, and remain true to our path. And the support of all our fans is the essential fuel of our ambition. Thank you all for the affection you consistently show to every single member of the Club.
Forza Inter!
