A big win, built on confidence and maturity, that sends Inter to the top of the table. Inter claimed a 2-1 victory away at the Marassi against Genoa, with goals from Yann Bisseck and Lautaro Martínez, moving into first place on 33 points after 15 matches. It was a composed and authoritative performance from Cristian Chivu’s side, who struck early, controlled the key moments of the game, and once again showed their solidity away from San Siro.
NERAZZURRI STATS
The win against Genoa continues an historic trend: for the first time in their Serie A history, Inter have won at least five of their first seven away league matches in three consecutive seasons.
With this match, the Nerazzurri have reached 34 goals after 15 games for the sixth straight campaign, as many times as they had managed to do so across the previous 69 top-flight seasons. Inter’s attacking output therefore remains at an extremely high level, also supported by a key contribution from the defensive unit. Only Borussia Dortmund have had more goals scored by defenders across Europe’s top five leagues this season, while in Serie A no team has done better than Inter: six goals from defenders, highlighting the team’s variety of attacking solutions and strong involvement from the back line.
Victory at the Marassi also extends Inter's positive run away against Genoa. The Nerazzuri are unbeaten in their last seven Serie A away matches against the Rossoblù, with four wins and three draws. The last time Inter managed a longer unbeaten streak on the road to Genoa was between 1960 and 1990, going eleven away games without defeat.
LAUTARO'S LATEST MILESTONES
Once again Lautaro Martínez proved decisive, continuing to be Inter’s main attacker. The captain is one of only four players across Europe’s top five leagues to have been involved in at least ten goals in each of the last seven seasons. In the current league campaign, he has eight goals and three assists, alongside the likes of Mbappé, Haaland and Kane.
Since his Serie A debut in 2018/19, no player has recorded more matches with both a goal and an assist in the same game than Lautaro, who sits on 15, level with Romelu Lukaku and Ciro Immobile.
His goal against Genoa also extends his strong run of form. Lautaro has now scored in three consecutive league matches, scoring four goals, something he hasn't achieved since last January.
BISSECK'S INSTANT IMPACT
The game opened with a goal from Yann Bisseck, as he made an impact right from the start. Since his Serie A debut in the 2023/24 season, no centre-back has scored more goals in the top flight than him: six, level with Federico Gatti, Gianluca Mancini and Lucas Martínez Quarta. A return that reflects his growing impact within Inter’s system.
His strike after five minutes and 21 seconds was also the earliest goal scored by an Inter defender in Serie A since João Cancelo, who scored a direct free-kick against Cagliari in April 2018 after just two minutes and 31 seconds.
