Another display of great quality, consistency and intensity. Inter beat Como 4-0 on matchday 14 in Serie A thanks to Lautaro’s first-half finish and goals from Thuram, Calhanoglu and Carlos Augusto after the restart. A confident, commanding win that further underlines the Nerazzurri's excellent form.
POSITIVE TRENDS FOR THE NERAZZURRI
Inter secured their tenth consecutive victory over Como in Serie A, having scored 24 goals and conceded just two. Never in their history had the Nerazzurri won ten matches in a row against a single opponent in the top flight, a record that speaks to their long-standing dominance in encounters with the Lariani.
Chivu’s side continue to pose a huge threat in attack: the Nerazzurri have already scored 24 goals from inside the box this season, at least six more than any other team. In the clash against Como, two of the most decisive players struck from this part of the pitch: Lautaro Martínez, now on seven goals from inside the penalty area, and Marcus Thuram, who has four, the same as Ange-Yoan Bonny. This potency is complemented by quality from distance: Inter are the team with the most goals from outside the box in Serie A (six), underlining the variety and unpredictability of their attacking play.
Set-pieces also provide further evidence of their quality: the Nerazzurri are the team with the most goals from corner-kick situations in Serie A this season (seven). Two of these have been scored by Thuram, who leads the league in this regard, together with Baschirotto, Bonazzoli and Muharemović.
Lautaro’s opening goal in the match fits a clear trend: Inter have already scored six times in the first 15 minutes this season, at least two more than any other team. Four of these goals have been netted by the Nerazzurri captain himself – against Cagliari (9'), Cremonese (6'), Lazio (3') and now Como (11').
The evening was capped off by Carlos Augusto, Inter's twelfth different goalscorer this Serie A season: no other team in the league has had so many players find the net.
LAUTARO BREAKS ANOTHER RECORD
Lautaro Martínez enjoyed a wonderful evening against Como, made even more special by words of praise from Roberto Boninsegna, who ranks above him in Inter’s all-time scorers list with 171 goals, as noted on the commemorative shirt he received before the match. After just 11 minutes, Lautaro added to his tally with his 164th goal for the Nerazzurri. The strike, both started and finished by him, showcased his signature style and leadership as captain. With seven goals this season, Lautaro is currently the outright top scorer in Serie A.
Como became the 30th different team that Inter’s No. 10 has scored against in Serie A. Since his arrival in Italy in 2018/19, no other player in the top five European leagues has found the net against so many opponents. In doing so, the Argentine has now surpassed Alessandro Altobelli, who bagged against 29 different teams, and thus become the first player in Inter’s history to reach this milestone.
Lautaro's finish against Como was his 150th goal involvement in Serie A (122 goals and 28 assists). The Argentine has scored against every team he has faced in the Italian top flight, with the sole exception of Chievo.
The match immediately saw the captain in action: his shot after just 21 seconds is Inter's fastest so far this Serie A season. To find a quicker Nerazzurri effort at goal, you have to go back to 26 December 2018, when Mauro Icardi had a go after just one second against Napoli, again at San Siro.
THURAM SURPASSES DJORKAEFF
Marcus Thuram continues his rise and has written a new chapter in Inter's history. His goal against Como has made him Inter's top-scoring French player in Serie A with 31 goals, surpassing Youri Djorkaeff, who finished on 30. An achievement that highlights the impact and consistency of the Nerazzurri's No. 9, ever more vital to the team's balance.
CALHANOGLU'S PRECISION
Hakan Calhanoglu scored another stunning goal from outside the box, the fourth time he has done so in Serie A this season. No one in Europe’s top ten leagues has done better (Kylian Mbappé and Joey Veerman are also on four). The Turkish midfielder now has six goals in twelve appearances, already one more than he managed in 2024/25, which ended with five in 29 games. An increasing offensive output, complementing his usual quality in controlling the tempo and rhythm of Inter's play.
