Supercoppa Italiana, the final against AC Milan on Monday 6

The Supercoppa Italiana 2024/25 will be between Inter and AC Milan. Once again it’s the Milano derby, just like two years ago, again in Riyadh. Here is a recap of the EA Sports FC Supercup semis: on Thursday, Inter beat Atalanta 2-0 thanks to a brace from Dumfries. On Friday, AC Milan came back from behind to beat Juventus 2-1: Yildiz opened the scoring but Pulisic from the spot and a Gatti own goal secured new Rossoneri coach Conceiçao the qualification.

The EA Sports FC Supercup will be held on Monday 6 January at 20:00 CET (22:00 local time) at the Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, the same ground that held the semi-finals and last season’s tournament.

Should the game be level at 90 minutes, there will be no extra time, it will go straight to penalties.

ANOTHER SUPERCOPPA DERBY

For the third time in history, the Milano derby will be played in the Supercoppa Italiana. Two previous fixtures: in 2001, the Rossoneri won 2-1 in China; in 2023, the Nerazzurri bagged a 3-0 win in Riyadh with goals from Dimarco, Dzeko and Lautaro.

The list of title holders in the competition sees Juventus top with 9 trophies, Inter with 8 (having won the last three in a row) and AC Milan with 7 (last win in 2016).

This will be Milano derby number 241: the third in the Supercoppa Italiana, the fourth time it will be a fight for a cup title (Coppa Italia 1977, won by AC Milan).

• This will be the 241st match between Inter and AC Milan, in all competitions: the Nerazzurri have won more in total, with 91 wins compared to AC Milan's 80 and 69 draws between them.

• Inter have won their last five games in all competitions without conceding. There has only been one previous occasion when the side have won more games consecutively without scoring in official matches (since the 1929/30 season): six times between November and December 2007, when Roberto Mancini was in charge.

• Lautaro Martínez (eight goals) is, level with Benito Lorenzi, the third highest Inter scorer in the history of the Derby di Milano in all competitions, behind only to Giuseppe Meazza (12) and Stefano Nyers (11).

• Lautaro Martínez has scored three goals for Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana (level with Samuel Eto'o), and if he scores he will become the highest Inter scorer in the history of the competition. Only Paulo Dybala (four) has scored more than him in the history of the tournament

• Nicolò Barella has actively contributed four goals (2 goals, 2 assists) in his last six appearances in all competitions.

• Denzel Dumfries has scored five goals in 22 appearances in the 2024/25 season, in all competitions. He has never recorded a better rate than this in a single season playing for Inter (five goals also in the 2021/22 but in 45 matches).

The final of the EA Sports FC Supercup 2024/25 will be played on Monday 6 January 2024 at 20:00 CET (22:00 in Saudi Arabia) at the Al-Awwal Park Stadium in Riyadh between Inter and AC Milan and will be broadcast live on Canale 5. REFEREE

The referee for Inter vs. AC Milan, in the final of the EA Sports FC Supercup 2024/25, will be Simone Sozza from Seregno. Carbone and Tegoni will be the assistants, while Fabbri will be the fourth-official. Marini will be in charge of VAR with Doveri as assistant VAR and Perrotti as reserve assistant.

THE NERAZZURRI WIN IN 2023

The Milano derby in Riyadh, as in January 2023. Two years later, the derby will once again decide the Supercoppa Italiana. On 18 January 2023, the game was held at the King Fahd Sports City in Riyadh, this time it will be held at Al-Awaal Park. An all-Nerazzurri night: the derby in Arabia was dominated by Inzaghi’s side. It was a big 3-0 win with goals from Dimarco and Dzeko in the first half and some Lautaro Martinez excellence in the second. A goal with an iconic celebration: the number 10 shirt shown to the Nerazzurri fans, celebrating a dream derby win and an important trophy.
