The Nerazzuri finish the league phase tenth: here is the full final table


Inter closed out the Champions League group stage with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on an action-packed night that featured all 36 teams in action, deciding the knockout stage path, from the round of 16 to the eight teams that secured their place in the last 16.

The Nerazzurri finished the league phase in tenth place with 15 points and will face either Benfica or Bodo/Glimt in the playoffs.

Within the new format, the top eight teams in the league phase table qualified directly for the Round of 16, while sides placed from 9th to 24th advanced to the play-off round (with teams ranked 9th to 16th seeded).

Qualified for the Ro16: Arsenal, Bayern München, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcellona, Chelsea, Sporting and Manchester City.

Qualified for the Ro16 play-offs: Real Madrid, INTER, Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle, Juventus, Atlético Madrid, Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Olympiacos, Club Brugge, Galatasaray, Monaco, Qarabag, Bodø/Glimt, Benfica.

What happens if teams are level on points?

If two or more teams are tied on points at the end of the league phase matches, the following criteria are applied, in this order, to determine their ranking:

a) Higher goal difference in the league phase b) Higher number of goals scored in the league phase c) Higher number of away goals scored in the league phase d) Greater number of wins in the league phase e) Greater number of away wins in the league phase f) Higher total number of points obtained collectively by the opponents faced in the league phase g) Superior collective goal difference of the opponents faced in the league phase h) Higher total number of goals scored collectively by the opponents faced in the league phase i) Lower total disciplinary points, based solely on yellow and red cards received by players and staff in all league phase matches (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, dismissal for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points) j) Higher club coefficient
