Tessa Wullaert continues to leave her mark on Belgian football. On the evening of Sunday 11 January 2026, the Nerazzurra forward and captain of the Belgian national team collected the Belgian Women’s Ballon d’Or for the sixth time, the award honouring the best female footballer of the year.
The award takes into account the performances of all players in the Belgian league, as well as Belgian players active abroad, and has been awarded since 2016 by HLN, Belgium’s largest daily newspaper and news website.
The Nerazzurra player was honoured during the 72nd edition of the Belgian Golden Shoe, the tenth which has featured women’s football, and saw her step onto the top of the podium for a sixth time. After setting an outright record last year by overtaking Paul Van Himst (the men’s record holder with four awards), Wullaert has now achieved an extraordinary and unique milestone, destined to remain a historic benchmark that will be difficult to match.
