Inter never give up. They stay united, take the blow and respond with pride and quality, with a willingness to sacrifice and a determination to get the result, whatever it takes. Against Roma, two goals down at half-time, the Nerazzurri came back out with the intention of turning the game around and secured a 2-2 draw late on.

Four of the match’s protagonists commented on the draw at the Olimpico: Marcus Thuram, who provided the assist for Lautaro’s opening goal, Pepo Martinez, who produced a superb save from Malen to prevent it becoming 3-1, Yann Bisseck and Petar Sucic.

“I don’t have the answers to explain these starts, but we had to react and we managed to do that in the second half. We know there are another 45 minutes and we have to do everything we can to get back into the game. I don’t think we underestimate our opponents: Roma are one of the strongest teams at the moment. They had a fantastic first half, even though we wanted to approach the game in the right way. I respect the decisions regarding the national team: I have to keep working and keep doing what I’m doing at Inter so I can return to the squad. The coach asked us to take up the wide positions from the start, and we did that better in the second half. The Thu-La partnership never went away: we were together last year too. I haven’t watched the final chance back; I wanted to catch Svilar off balance, but the ball went wide.”

Marcus Thuram

“As Lauti said, we can’t be satisfied because we threw away a half. It’s already happened four times. We have the strength to come back, but we can’t keep getting our starts wrong. I’m happy to have been selected for the national team, but I was hoping to go home with three points.”

Josep Martinez

“We were never dead. We always remember our strength: with our quality, it’s always possible to come back in games, but we have to improve in the first half. The coach asks me to contribute in attack. It’s not a problem for me and I believe I have the quality to do it, but the most important thing is helping the team.”

Yann Bisseck

“Sucic: We started the game badly and we have to improve because we’re conceding too much at the moment. We have players of great quality, but if we want to be at the top, we have to concede less and start playing straight away. We have to show our quality from the first minute. If we play from the start the way we did in the second half, we’re a top-level team. The coach told me to play quickly, help the team with my game and give everything I had. I was nervous on the bench because I wanted to come on and make my contribution. We all try to give our best every day for Inter.”
