Inter have arrived in Rotterdam ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Feyenoord at Stadion Feijenoord 'De Kuip' on Tuesday 3 November at 21:00 CET. The match will be the Nerazzurri's fourth fixture of the 2026/27 league phase.
Ahead of the game, Marcus Thuram spoke to the media at the pre-match press conference at the stadium in Rotterdam:
Barella and Bastoni admitted after the Derby that there are problems within the team. Do you agree?
"I do. They're both leaders and know the team very well, so I can only agree with them."
Was the performance against Shakhtar, particularly with ten men, a turning point for Inter?
"I think we need to show the same attitude we had when we were down to ten men in every competition. That's the mentality we should always have on the pitch."
You haven't had a rest since the international break. How are you feeling?
"Playing every game is every footballer's dream. Sometimes it's not possible, but we all want to play as much as we can, and I'm happy to be doing that. Playing as a lone striker? I've done it before, so I'm perfectly comfortable in that role."
At times, it seems that without Lautaro, the senior players in the dressing room struggle to show leadership. Why do you think that is?
"Who says that? I don't agree. Everyone expresses themselves in their own way. You can see what Lauti does, but the others contribute a great deal too. We know that, even if you don't always see it."
In the Derby, it looked as though you pushed forward to press but ended up caught in between, too far away from midfield. Is that a fair assessment, and does something need to change?
"Sometimes we can press high, while at other times we need to sit back. As a striker, I have to be the first to recognise the right moments to press and make sure I don't put the team in a difficult position."
The team's approach to games seems to be a problem, but how do you work on something so important when you're playing every three days?
"First, you have to recognise the problem, acknowledge it and then work to put it right. Pretending nothing is wrong doesn't help. I think we've all realised that now, and we can approach games in the right way."
