Trophies, goals and victories: Inter's 2022 numbers

2022 is coming to an end, and what an exciting year it has been for the Nerazzurri fans, one in which Inter has lifted two trophies. It started off in January by winning our sixth Italian Supercoppa, beating Juventus, which was then followed up with an eighth Coppa Italia success after another victory over the Bianconeri; a second consecutive UEFA Champions League Round of 16 spot ended the year.

Lots of emotion, and with many interesting statistics to boot. Let's take a look at some of the Nerazzurri's most significant numbers in 2022:

VICTORIES AND GOALS

Inter won 30 games in 2022, 21 of which were in achieved in Serie A. No other Italian team did better, considering all competitions.

Furthermore, the Nerazzurri scored a total of 94 goals in all competitions (69 in Serie A). Out of all Italian teams, Inter is second behind only Napoli for the most number of goals scored in 2022.

TORO'S YEAR

Lautaro Martínez was Inter's highest scorer in 2022. Toro netted 22 times in all competitions. But that wasn't his only contribution: Lautaro was involved in 21 goals in Serie A in 2022. With 17 goals and four assists, no other Nerazzurri player did better than the Argentinian, who also bagged the most multiple goals in Serie A: three braces and a hat-trick (Edin Dzeko is second with three).

It was a year to remember for Lautaro Martinez, who ended 2022 as a World Cup winner with Argentina in Qatar.

AN ASSIST MACHINE

Nicolò Barella served up the most assists in 2022 for Inter, considering all competitions. The midfielder made ten key assists, all of which were in Serie A. Barella is the only Italian player to have delivered at least ten assists in 2022 in Europe's top-five leagues.

THE FASTEST... AND THE LATEST

Inter's fastest goal in 2022, in all competitions, was Romelu Lukaku's against Lecce on matchday one in the 2022/23 season. The Belgium needed only one minute and 22 seconds to score his, and Inter's, first league goal of the season.

Conversely, the latest goal to have been scored in the calendar year was Henrikh Mkhitaryan's against Fiorentina, after 94 minutes and 50 seconds. If we consider extra-time though, the overall record goes to Alexis Sanchez, who scored the decisive goal in the Italian Supercoppa against Juventus after 120 minutes and one second.

TIRELESS

If we consider only Serie A, the player to have made the most appearances for Inter in 2022 was Nicolò Barella. The midfielder played 34 times in the league, all in the starting eleven.

The player to have played the most league minutes, though, is Milan Skriniar. The Slovakian defender was on the field of play for a total of 2,901 minutes in 2022.
