After a solid performance, Inter's U23 side played out 2-2 draw with Trento in their first pre-season friendly, with Topalovic and Fontanarosa getting on the scoresheet. Following the match, Stefano Vecchi had the following to say to Inter TV:
“I asked the boys to play with real commitment for one half each, and they showed great desire and the right spirit. We saw some of the things we’ve been working on over these first few weeks, and the fact that we pushed until the end to get the equaliser is a positive sign: it shows the team cares about getting results, even in friendlies. Today, we faced a side who are still a bit incomplete but have consistently finished near the top in recent seasons, so overall we’re fairly satisfied with our performance. That said, we have to keep working, because that’s the path we need to follow. Three-man defence? Some of the lads who’ve played elsewhere have experience with this system, but it’s something new for most of the group. I’m confident it can help bring them even closer to the First Team, so that’s another encouraging sign. The overall assessment of the training camp is definitely a positive one. This is a group that is willing to put in the hard graft and has plenty of room for improvement – exactly as it should be. Now, we just need to keep working.”
