A tough and hard-fought clash on matchday 2 of the women's Serie A division

A thrilling match packed with drama right to the final second. Inter Women came away with a 2-2 draw against Fiorentina at Viola Park after an open and entertaining contest. Piovani’s Nerazzurre showed real character, finding an equaliser in stoppage time through Santi to earn a point.

Inter started well in a match that was intense from the get-go. In the eighth minute, they came close to taking the lead through Wullaert, who latched onto a rebound and fired just wide. The game remained evenly balanced until the 42nd minute, when Inter broke the deadlock: Schough's perfect cross from the left was met by Polli, who steered it in with her chest to make it 1-0. Fiorentina’s response was immediate, with Snerle levelling things up from close range in first-half stoppage time. The teams went into the break at 1-1.

The second half remained lively and hard-fought. Inter continued to build through Schough and Polli, but Fiorentina made it 2-1 through Omarsdottir, who capitalised on a defensive mix-up and beat the Nerazzurre keeper with a precise lob (51'). Inter responded with composure, keeping up the pressure: Csiszar came close to equalising (66') and Janogy found the net (79'), only for it to be ruled out for offside. The Nerazzurre's persistence was rewarded late on. In the first minute of stoppage time, a scramble in the box followed a free-kick, and Santi reacted quickest to turn it in for 2-2. Inter then almost won it deep into added time: a mistake in the Fiorentina defence meant Wullaert only had the goalkeeper to beat, but her strike crashed against the crossbar. After six minutes of stoppage time, the whistle blew on a draw that felt like a show of resilience.

A valuable point and a display of real character from Inter Women, who showed mental strength and team spirit at Viola Park. The 2-2 draw against Fiorentina confirms the group’s progress and leaves plenty of optimism ahead of the upcoming fixtures.
