Inter Women, pari contro il Sassuolo

The fifth matchday of the Women’s Serie A ends in a draw with a few regrets for the Nerazzurre. At the Arena Civica Gianni Brera in Milano, Inter swiftly found their feet in the game, following two early chances from Magull, and took the lead in the eighth minute with a penalty for Nash’s handball, converted by Wullaert. Before the 15th minute, Piovani’s side doubled the advantage thanks to a brace from the Belgian forward, who fired a powerful left-footed strike to the near post past Durand to make it 2-0. Sassuolo pulled one back with Clelland’s left-footed shot, and the second half saw Sassuolo seal their comeback with Greve’s right-footed strike from distance, ending the game 2-2.

After the defeat against Roma, Inter came back fierce and determined in their match against Sassuolo at the Arena Civica Gianni Brera. In the opening moments, Magull caused problems for the Neroverde backline with two efforts from the left, both stopped by Durand. Sassuolo struggled to manage Piovani's side, who were awarded a penalty in the eighth minute for a handball by Nash. Wullaert kept calm under pressure and converted from the spot to give the Nerazzurre the lead. Just three minutes later, the Belgian forward was back at it, finding a through ball from Magull and firing a powerful left-footed strike at the near post to beat Durand to secure her brace. Sassuolo responded in the 21st minute with Clelland, set up by Eto, who got past Rúnarsdottir with a clean left-footed finish to pull one back. In the final minutes of the first half, Inter pushed forward again with Magull and Detruyer, but Durand was at the ready and denied them both.

The pace picked up in the second half, and the momentum of the game shifted as Sassuolo, spurred on by fresh legs and new energy, created several dangerous opportunities. Just past the hour mark, Missipo put Rúnarsdottir to the test with a shot from distance, followed by a header from Clelland. The Nerazzurre goalkeeper was able to keep both attempts out of the goal. Inter also found an opportunity with their substitutions in the 73rd minute as Robustellini shot from a distance but missed the target. In the 83rd minute, Sassuolo secured their comeback with Greve's long-range strike, and in the 91st minute, she nearly cinched the lead, followed by a counterattack that narrowly missed the goal. After four minutes of stoppage time, the match ended in a draw, and the points were shared. Inter move up to six points and now have their eyes set on the back-to-back away games in Europe and Serie A against Hacken and Napoli.
