Inter Women defeated by Roma

Inter Women suffered their first defeat of the season in the League at Stadio Tre Fontane, as they lost to leaders Roma on league matchday four. The Nerazzurre went behind in the fourth minute, following Pandini's goal. Inter Women went close to equalising on two occasions with Glionna, who was first denied by Heatley, just yards out from the goal, and then the crossbar at the start of the second half. In the second half, Roma doubled their lead through Dragoni and then scored a third through Giugliano.

WOMEN, ROMA 3-0 INTER | THE MATCH

The match got off to a quick start at Stadio Tre Fontane. Inter lined up in attack with the partnership of Wullaert and Bugeja and found themselves faced with an aggressive and quick Roma side, who were able to get in control of the match after just four minutes of play. From a recovery of possession in the middle of the pitch, the move from the Giallorosse started with Kuhl and then ended with Pandini's right-footed strike past Rúnarsdottir. Inter reacted soon after, firstly through Wullaert and then Andres forced Baldi into action. Roma then responded with a right-footed strike at the near post from Pandini and Heatley's header. On the half hour mark, Heatley denied Inter's best chance following great play from Wullaert for Glionna who lifted the ball over Baldi. However, the effort was denied by the Australian defender, just yards from goal. Before the end of the first half, there was time for Magull's left-footed strike, which was deflected for a corner by Bergamaschi.

The second half was played at a high tempo, with Inter proving dangerous straight away as Glionna hit the bar from distance. On the hour mark, Piovani was forced into his first change as Bugeja picked up an injury. Bowen, Robustellini and Vilhjalmsdottir all came onto the pitch, but Roma doubled their lead through Dragoni. The Nerazzurre pushed forward in the final minutes and went close to scoring through Glionna, whose right-footed effort was denied by Baldi. In stoppage time, the home side scored a third through Giugliano.
