On Wednesday 27 August at 16:00 CEST, Inter take on Brann in the UEFA Women's Champions League qualifiers: the match will be live on Inter TV, inter.it, on the official app and also YouTube

The wait is almost over, Inter Women's European adventure is about to begin. Piovani's side will host the Group three matches of the four-team mini-tournament for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, which will be played entirely at the KONAMI Football Centre.

The draws in Nyon for the first and second rounds set the pairings for the "League Path", and Inter were placed in Group three, where they will take on the Norwegian side SK Brann in the semi-final, scheduled for Wednesday 27 August at 16:00 CEST. Entry to the game will be free for the important match. This is a unique chance for the Nerazzurre who will look to count on their home support to progress.

“We're coming into this match with lots of enthusiasm because we've earned the possibility to play in this competition last year after a brilliant campaign. There's lots of enthusiasm, a bit less in terms of the injury situation. We will have to try to manage different situations, but the girls taking to the field can't wait to play because he we have earned this and we will give it all. Brann are a very physical side who like to keep the ball moving, especially in midfield. They play a lot of vertical passes because they have very fast players on the wings and they attack in great numbers. This team has been playing in the Champions League for ten years, we will have to be at our best when facing them: this is something new for us, so we will have to be ready. Our pre-season matches were very important for us, we raised the bar compared to last year by only facing teams in the Champions League. Our start in the Serie A Women's Cup was positive. Genoa won Serie B and have strengthened a lot, it was a great performance from us and it will help us a lot ahead of this European clash. ”

THE ROAD TO EUROPE

The mini-tournament is the second qualifying round: the winning team will move onto the third round, which is played over two legs against a single opponent. A place in the UEFA Women's Champions League group stage is at stake. Teams that finish second or third in the mini-tournament, as well as those eliminated in the third round, will qualify for the new UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, the female equivalent of the Europa League.

THE FORMAT

The first and second qualifying rounds are played as mini-tournaments with semi-finals, a final, and a third-place match (all single-leg) hosted by one of the participating clubs. If the score is tied at the end of regular time, two 15-minute periods of extra time are played. If one team scores more goals than the other during extra time, they are declared the winner. If the score remains tied after extra time, the match is decided by a penalty shootout. The winners of the finals advance to the next round of their respective paths.
