Piovani’s side win big in the first leg of Europa Cup qualifier

A European night to remember for Inter Women who dominated Hibernian with a 4-1 win in the Women's Europa Cup qualifier. The Nerazzure put out a quality performance and showed great character. They set the tone in the opening minutes of the game and continued to extend their lead through brilliant teamwork.

Inter got off to a flying start and immediately made their intentions clear. In the 4th minute, Andrés produced a moment of magic in the box, setting up Magull whose clever back-heel freed Bugeja, who was ice-cold in front of Schumacher, to make it 1-0. The Nerazzure kept pressing and doubled their lead in the 10th minute. A fanstastic piece of play with Robustellini feeding the ball in from the left to Schough, whose unstoppable left-footed strike put Inter 2-0 up.

Piovani's side were in complete control of the game. Polli came close to a third with a header in the 22nd minute, and seven minutes later, Bugeja threatened with a right-footed strike that rattled off the post. Before the break, Andrés also tried her luck curling the ball, but it skimmed the woodwork. Inter went into halftime with a well-deserved 2-0 lead.

The second half could not have started better. Just seconds in, Bugeja was already causing problems in the box and set Polli up perfectly, who converted to make it 3-0. Hibernian pushed back in the 66th minute with a goal from Adams. The goal did not, however, change the momentum of the game. Inter remained firmly in control and in the 81st minute Glionna secured a fourth goal with fierce right-footed finish. Tomasevic had another go in the final minutes, but Schumacher kept her at bay. The game finished 4-1 to Inter: a convincing, well-deserved win that brings the Nerazzurre closer to progressing to the next round.
