Primavera coach reacts to Inter's exit in the Viareggio Cup: "Excellent performance but it wasn't enough. Sadly that's the lottery of penalties for you"

Stefano Vecchi'

s Primavera have gone out of the Viareggio Cup at the quarter-final stage. Sassuolo edged out the Nerazzurri on penalties after the match finished 1-1.

While pleased with his side's display, Vecchi couldn't help but rue a couple of key moments in the match.

"We put in an excellent performance but unfortunately we conceded a goal from outside the box from Sassuolo's only attacking move. I don't remember Di Gregorio having any other saves to make. Then we showed great desire to level despite being a man light. We gave everything but it wasn't enough. That's the lottery of penalties for you."

The Primavera will now quickly turn their attention back to league action.

"We'll head to Milan and focus on immediately bouncing back," concluded Vecchi. We have a game against Cagliari coming up and that will be crucial to stay top of the table."
