The youth academy technical director to Inter Channel: "The players' development is the most important thing. We're already working on next season"

APPIANO GENTILE – On a day of celebration at the youth academy, technical director Daniele Bernazzani has reviewed the winning campaigns under his watch.

"It was a very successful season, since all the teams made it to the championship play-offs and we missed out on another victory by a thread," he said to Inter Channel. "We’re very satisfied. Obviously, the players’ development is the most important thing, but winning is evidence that we’re doing a good job."

Once again, the youth academy has given promising players the chance to shine in the limelight.

"We have players with great potential coming through every year and this makes us happy. The under-17s are proof of that after making it to the final two years ago. They were a great squad even back in the Giovanissimi Regionali and we’ve strengthened it in recent years. They will do well in the next category up, either the Primavera or the Berretti. Is this another treble to go alongside the one with the first team? It’s a nice thought, but we shouldn’t confuse the two."

Bernazzani is not one to rest on his laurels and he’s already looking ahead to next season.

"We’ve already started on the upcoming campaign, making plans and reviewing squads," he concluded. "For sure, it’s been a satisfying month which rewards the work everyone is doing, the coaches in particular but also everyone involved in scouting and the day-to-day work at the club. Inter are proud of their youth academy. Everyone should follow our lead and invest something extra into their academies."
