The coach reflects on the first 10 days of pre-season training following Saturday's friendly against Nurnberg

RISCONE DI BRUNICO - Luciano Spalletti admitted that Inter looked a bit leggy after their second pre-season friendly ended in defeat.

The Nerazzurri lost 2-1 to Nurnberg at the conclusion of a 10-day training camp in Riscone di Brunico where the focus was mostly on building up fitness.

Speaking after the match, the coach said: “We began 10 days ago and we're still at the start of our work. We found it quite hard today because we're only just starting to get going again and we need to evaluate the physical work we're doing carefully.

“We also need to be careful not to pick up any injuries and that didn't happen today. Some of the lads had a few problems so it can be a bit of a risk.

“The team tried to carry out my instructions but didn't always manage it. We'll keep working on that.”

Inter will continue their pre-season preparations on the other side of the world during their tour of China and Singapore, with the team set to leave on Tuesday.

“Our fitness levels will improve and we'll have a bigger squad to work with, which is important as we'll have to change things around with all the games so close together.

“I'm calm about our transfer business. We'll bring in the players we need. You have to consider lots of variables and look at what you can change as you go along. You have to do things in the right order. Negotiations can take time to get off the ground.

“We have some great players here and we'll sign more. We can certainly aim for the top four and the players we'll bring in will help us in that respect.”
