— just nowThe Nerazzurri coach's thoughts after the 2-0 victory over Como at San Siro
Inter delivered a commanding performance against Como, making a fast start before comfortably seeing out the game to secure a 2-0 victory on Matchday 11 of Serie A. The win takes the Nerazzurri to 28 points after 11 league games and rounds off an impressive run of nine matches in just under a month. Head coach Cristian Chivu gave his assessment of the team's performance after the game.
“We played nine games in 27 days, getting through them with energy but also experiencing some ups and downs, both in terms of our performances and results. You can't always get everything right, and sometimes you have to swallow your pride, accept disappointment and use it as motivation to improve through hard work. Today, we raised the tempo and intensity, showed quality and pressed effectively as a team. We played collectively and did what was needed to avoid putting ourselves under pressure. A good first half allowed us to go into the break ahead, and then we were able to make the most of our transitions. I want to congratulate all the players. There's always room for improvement, even today, but it's about doing the right things and making sure they serve our progress. You can't be perfect. Seasons are long, and you have to know how to navigate them, always maintaining the right motivation to respond to every challenge. Many factors come into play, including injuries and sometimes a lack of energy. It's also about being honest with each other, looking each other in the eye and having those conversations, even when results don't go our way and things aren't working out. Unfortunately, we lost the derby, but we rolled up our sleeves, picked ourselves up and got back to work so we could continue pursuing the ambitious season we want to have. The same thing happened after Brugge. Across those nine games, we could have done better, but we could also have done worse. It all starts with the forwards, too, because they consistently disrupted Como's build-up play and led our pressing efforts effectively. We managed to stay compact and deny them space through the middle, where they're particularly dangerous, especially when looking to find teammates in behind our midfielders. That allowed us to win the ball back and launch counterattacks. We did a good job and remained very compact as a team. ”
