Spalletti: "We have great potential"

SAN BENEDETTO DEL TRONTO -  Luciano Spalletti was satisfied following his team’s friendly victory over Villarreal on Sunday: “We’ve done even better this evening,” said the coach. “We were not static and kept the ball moving well. However, we can do even better as there is great potential within the squad. I am convinced that I have a strong team. When you have quality, you have to make sure that you don’t just sit back and instead keep pushing on.” 

In terms of individual performances, Spalletti had this to say: “Nagatomo is a good player for ensuring the team’s structure and continuity,” he continued. “For squad depth he is perfect. As for Jovetic, he scored a stunning goal and showed exactly what he is capable of. We must have players that have quality and substance, whilst also keeping in mind the balance of the team. Icardi will be ready for the first league game against Fiorentina. He gave off the right signals today. Our objective is to keep working in this manner. At some points in the game, we played with a bit of arrogance so we must make sure that the players keep performing well and are motivated. We want to play together as a team and to fight for the important league positions.”
