"The coach has some clear ideas and he knows how to get them across." This is what the Nerazzurri captain had to say to the Inter Channel

MILAN - After making his return during Sunday’s friendly against Villarreal, Nerazzurri captain Mauro Icardi has since had this to say to the Inter Channel: “Yes, it was the right time to get back playing with the squad, picking up some game time and getting used to Mr. Spalletti’s playing methods,” said Icardi. “I worked really hard after suffering my injury in the league. I tried to join up with the National side in June, but unfortunately it was not possible. At the end of the summer I continued to work alone in a bid to strengthen my leg and help heal a tricky injury. I am really pleased to get back playing.”

“As for my condition at the moment, it is still giving me a bit of grief but that is only normal. I can now manage it and during the match I felt really good, even creating a smart assist. I always try to do what is asked me, producing a lot of movement and pressing defenders.”

“In terms of of the squad, I think we are progressing really well. Like I’ve already said in pre-season, the coach has some clear ideas. He knows what he wants and how to transmit his thoughts. Spalletti is trying to do the best he possibly can. In regard to my scoring ambitions, let's hope. If I can score more than last year then it is an improvement.”
