The Nerazzurri Coach ahead of Hellas Verona vs. Inter in the eleventh round of fixtures: “We are Inter and we must win, that’s that”

APPIANO GENTILE – The Nerazzurri continued to prepare on Sunday ahead of the match with Hellas Verona on Monday night in Serie A.

The Coach Luciano Spalletti was in for his pre-match press conference ahead of the fixture. “We always have to win against these teams,” he began. “We don’t have time to relax, we absolutely need to keep building on this. At the start, there was a long way to go as Inter had to get back to where they belong with a good position in the table. Precise decisions have to be made in order to keep up with the big teams because they will keep going all the way. Brozovic is available, he’s done very well in the last two training sessions.”

“We need stability, at the beginning we had to make the players feel important and then we had to find some substance. They deserved it by working in a very professional fashion. In seeing the responses, I don’t see why we should change. It’s clear that we sorted something out and when we’ve changed things we’ve also seen important responses. Talk of needing more leaders is growing. Dalbert and Cancelo have different styles, they have the quality to put them in practice. They're extra weapons that we can use but we already have a strong arsenal.”

The Nerazzurri Coach was also asked about possible January signings. “It’s hard to say because there’s a long way to go and we need to keep up with the leading pack. Every single decision has a lot of weight  and we’ll see now if we’re equipped to keep moving toward our objectives. If we think that something needs to be done then we’ll do it, you need to remain alert. I’m very happy with these players. We’re looking to work in the right way, we’re looking at how they’re responding and then we’ll make evaluations. At the moment, I’m more worried about who could leave. My squad was built well to go far. The reactions from them at the moment are very good from all of them.”

What will be decisive in qualification for the Champions League? “I think that direct match-ups will be very important. It will be a very difficult season for us. You get to your objectives through wins and not by looking for easy or difficult matches. What I want to create is the concept that we wear the kit of a strong team. Nike don’t give us different kits for easy or difficult matches, there’s an obligation to win because we are Inter. We to have to get a result and that’s that. Otherwise, we’ll lose ground and it will become harder. We have the highest average attendance in the league. This means that our fans are real Interisti and they don’t look at the opposition but they come to see Inter play. I don’t see why we shouldn’t act like them. Now, we have to push hard without being reckless. We must push hard and know what we want to do without looking down on or underestimating anyone.”

Spalletti was also asked about Vecino’s condition. “He’s recovered, he trained once and did some separate work as a precaution. I had to take him off because he asked me to. He’s a complete player who knows how to do everything, he knows how to hit the ball well from distance. He’s fitted in well inside the team and he has significant mental strength, he’s consistent in training where he shows his quality.”

“While we’ve also got things wrong, we’ve always given our all and we’ll probably make more mistakes but we always show professionalism and motivation. We want to show ourselves that we are worthy to be Inter and that we can stay here.”
