It was an extremely intriguing encounter, as the Nerazzurri controlled the majority of possession, while Chievo threatened on the counter. It was from this kind of move that the Gialloblu opened the scoring in the 38th minute, as D’Amico fired a right-footed effort past Dekic.

Following the interval, it took just 44 seconds for the Nerazzurri to get back level – Gaviolo the man with the equaliser. Not long after Eddie Salcedo missed two great opportunities to take the lead, while Rovaglia then missed the target for Chievo. Another crucial episode came in the 80th minute, with Dekic turning into Superman to keep out Juwara from the penalty spot.

As the game neared the final whistle, there was still time for one last chance – and so came the game’s decisive goal. Gianelli scored for Inter and helped them snatch a last-gasp 2-1 win, pushing them one step closer to the Final Four.
