The Belgian matchwinner after his brace against Bologna

BOLOGNA - Ice-cool, ruthless, decisive. Romelu Lukaku secured yet another win for the Nerazzurri with an all-important brace to complete the comeback over Bologna and ensure Inter’s second consecutive victory in the league. Two away games in just a matter of days, two games decided by Lukaku. Tonight the Belgian scored his 9th goal in his 11th league game of the season, an impressive start matched only by Ronaldo back in his 1997/98 season with the Nerazzurri.

Lukaku spoke to Sky Sport after the game: “It was such an important penalty because we had to win, we needed the three points. I have to give credit to Bologna: they played with a lot of intensity, they pressed us a lot. But we have such a great mentality, I’m happy with the win. I work every day to improve, I’m 26 years old and I’ve still got room to grow as a player. We don’t pay attention to the results of other teams, we’re staying focused on Inter and we’ll just think about ourselves, about going out onto the pitch and winning games.”

The attacker also added the following while speaking to InterTV: “The more work you put in on something, the easier it becomes. As I stepped up for the penalty all I was thinking about was scoring and helping the team win. Bologna scored a great goal, but our intensity and mentality in the last 20 minutes made the difference. It’s very important to me that I work every day to be at the top of my game in terms of fitness, goals and assists. Today I’m happy with the win, I’m a striker whose job it is to score goals so I’m happy to have done that. Lautaro and I are doing well for the team, we both want to win.”
