MILAN - This will be encounter number 105 in Serie A between Inter and Genoa. The Nerazzurri hold the better record with 53 wins over Genoa’s 22, with 29 of the games having ended in draws. In collaboration with Opta, here are all of the best statistics ahead of this fixture on matchday 17 of Serie A, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 CET on Saturday 21 December at San Siro.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS

Inter vs. Genoa has ended in a 1-0 win for the Nerazzurri on twelve occasions, the last coming in September 2017 thanks to a D’Ambrosio goal.

Inter won both of their league fixtures against Genoa last season with an aggregate score of 9-0. In fact, the Nerazzurri have won all of their last ten meetings with this side in the top flight. The two sides haven’t drawn since May 2013 (0-0).

Inter have lost just one of their last 32 Serie A home games against Genoa (3-1 in March 1994), having won 24 and drawn seven.

Genoa have lost their last six league games against Inter at San Siro: this is the longest ongoing streak of away losses for the Rossoblù against any side in the league.

Inter have scored in each of their last nine league home games against Genoa (25 goals, an average of 2.8 per game), keeping a clean sheet in all of their last four.

CURRENT FORM

With Antonio Conte at the helm, Inter have collected 39 points from their first 16 games of the season: only two coaches have done better in their first 16 games in charge of the Nerazzurri in Serie A (counting a win as three points): Luciano Spalletti in 2017/18 (40) and Alfredo Foni in 1952/53 (40).

Inter would reach 42 points with a win: since the league started counting a win as three points, the Nerazzurri have only reached this figure on three occasions after 17 games: in 2006/07, in 2007/08 and in 2008/09.

Inter are unbeaten in their last nine league games (6W, 3D), the side haven’t gone ten games without a defeat in Serie A since December 2017.

Genoa sit on eleven points in the standings: seven of the last eight teams to have reached just eleven points after 16 games in the league have been relegated at the end of the season.

Genoa have won just two games in the league this season, they have gone on to be relegated on five of the last six occasions that they started this badly after 16 games in Serie A. In the Top 5 European leagues, only Watford have had a worse start to the league campaign (one win from 17 games).
