The former Nerazzurri forward: "The team have begun the season well, they need to continue to fight"

APPIANO GENTILE – Two days prior to the #DerbyMilano, Ivan Zamorano, who paid the team a visit at the Suning Training Centre today, spoke about the cross-city contest to Inter TV: “It’s always great to return home, Inter are very important to me, which is why I’m really happy to be here. The team have made a positive start to the season having won three out of three in the league. The group is gearing up well and Conte has found a balance between the different positions on the pitch. We will fight until the end. Positive results are always important for the players and in terms of motivation levels and confidence. We know the difficulties that all sides have in the Champions League. Slavia Prague played well at San Siro and we began with a draw, but I’m confident that we can continue to fight and play to win in the upcoming matches.”

On the imminent clash against Milan: “The Derby is a special match, you can sense that it’s coming during the week in the streets, in restaurants and here at the Suning Training Centre. People experience it in a special way, it’s the game you want to win from the beginning until the end. Preparing well during the week is important, especially from a mental perspective. From this point of view, it seems to me that the team are ready to play an excellent game and, as has happened many times before, win the Derby.”

His memories of the Derby: “My best memory of a Derby was the first I played in, we won 2-0 and I scored the second goal with my head. It was a fantastic match, a fascinating game and a magical evening. It’ll remain in my heart forever.”

Finally, as regards to goals, he commented on the Nerazzurri’s attacking options: “Inter have strikers with different characteristics: Lukaku is a point of reference in the box, also because of his physical presence. He likes to finish off pieces of play there. Lautaro can play further back, he’s an incredible fighter and is absorbed in the game. Finally, Sanchez can attack on all fronts. These forwards will bring Inter a lot of joy.”
