LECCE – Stefan de Vrij’s usual impeccable defensive performance and passing ability wasn’t enough: Inter return from Lecce with a point after a 1-1 draw at the Via del Mare. The Dutchman gave his thoughts post-match to Inter TV: “It’s a shame that we couldn’t hold onto the results after taking the lead. They used a more defensive set-up than usual and you could see it, they defended well and countered. We put in a lot of crosses but we didn’t threaten. We played almost the whole game in their half, us defenders were more focused on intercepting the ball high up the pitch and not letting them break on us. Maybe we needed to pick up the pace to put even more pressure on our opponents.”
